I have been a consultant for over 20 years. I got my start in consulting right after I started my Masters’ degree in Human Resources/Organization Development. One of my first class assignments was to create a functional marketing presentation for a new HR department we wanted to see in our company and I wanted to see an organization development department. So, after I turned in my assignment, for kicks and grins I sent this presentation to the VP of HR for the nonprofit I was working for and she shocked me by saying, “Great! Go ahead and start it!”
So, my graduate education became the ultimate action learning experience as I took a class, I was able to instantly apply what I learned…all with the help of amazing mentors.
And then, as I mentioned, I had the great privilege of working as an internal consultant for Disney and then working for dozens of other amazing companies like AAA and Wyndham Vacation Ownership as an external consultant.
I got into the consulting business because I had a passion for creating healthy organizations and positive work environments. I have stayed in the field for this long though because I absolutely love coming alongside really smart executives and helping them to not only take their companies to the next level but their leadership.
